lyrics
This is the end
Ten out of ten
In exploration of a clucking hen
Tonight was tight
But we aren’t friends
Well I know it’s melodrama
But it’s how I feel and you can tell that to them
“Say hi to me from sobriety”
(She says)
I’m spinning out, unravelling
I’m the boss boy racer
And the audiobook’s Lauda
This could be Rodin to Italy
Just do something with me
We’ve been struggling for miles
Where are my memetic flowers
I’ve got beef with a monkey account
Can I make you proud?
Crying out
Sound the genie alarm
Give it clean, give me crisp, we need calm
Ban the bubblegum champ
I’ve got half a mind to set fire to the bar
I’ve got a big fat house
And I know exactly what I’m gonna do with it
I waited three years to drive
And in a second our ride
Could be engorged from boot to bumper
Spilling too much and just like us
God stopped at the humber
I know if it’s real
I wanna know if it cares anymore
We’ve been spinning for miles
Where are my memetic flowers
I’ve got beef with a monkey account
Can I make you proud?
Stood, crying.out loud
Oh, what a night to be found
And what a night to be
John Superman
And we burn down the motorway
A wild rocket couldn’t stop it
We’re going back to Spain
Yeah, this is a we could be in a film kinda thing
The big screen adaptation that you just won’t ring
And I hear you’re gonna quit for the band
But you can’t hold it together without it holding your hand
But please for me don’t cry
I made it all the way to the microphone didn’t I?
I’ve done it now
Until I get it right
Until I get it right

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
